Unless a bike is well identified by markings and labels, it could be impossible for the police to return a stolen bike to its rightful owner.

If your bike is coded and a thief steals it, if the police recover your bike, it can be easily returned to you. Unless a cycle is well-identified, a thief may well escape prosecution because there is no proof of theft. Lets make it as hard as possible for thief’s and handlers to buy and sell stolen bikes and scooters.

YOU DO NOT NEED TO LIVE IN THE AREA TO USE THIS SERVICE.

Simply turn up with your bike or scooter at Morrisons car park, and we will code you bike.

This involves
• stamping into the metal of the cycle, near the bottom bracket, your postcode and possibly your street number, making it close to unique as a cycle ID
labelling
your cycle with a prominent note to the effect that it is coded.
• Don't worry about problems from future changes of address: as long as you remember what the ID mark is, it remains valid.
• A cycle ‘passport’ which records all details of your bike and holds a photograph of your bike will be given to you. Should your bike ever get stolen, you have a current picture of your bike and all its distinguishing marks recorded, which will help the police.

By marking and labelling your cycle in this way, you make cycle theft more risky for criminals (so the label acts as a deterrent) and you may even help the police get your stolen bike back to you.

24th APRIL 2014 BETWEEN 11AM - 1PM @ MORRISONS ON BESSINGBY ROAD, BRIDLINGTON
