Additional checks were made to the Veterinary Practice nearby and it was discovered a ground floor window had been broken, leaving blood at the scene.
The 31-year-old Hull man was arrested on suspicion of burglary and taken into police custody before being briefly transferred to Hull Royal Infirmary for medical treatment in relation to cuts and abrasions to his body.
He was later interviewed and charged with Burglary - other than a dwelling, and remanded to appear at the next available sitting at court the following day.
PC Andy White from Kirk Ella Neighbourhood Police Station, who was the arresting officer on the night said: “It is very important for the police to conduct regular patrols of the area they work in; regardless of the time of day it is. It’s possible for this type of crime to have taken weeks to investigate, using blood analysis and labour intensive methods to identify the alleged offender or at worst to have gone undetected. As we were passing and looking out for anything suspicious we used our initiative and located a man nearby a commercial premise we would not expect to see at that time of day.
“The staff and management at the veterinary practice are happy with the service we provided and now it is up to the courts to decide what to do with this man.”
