The incident happened at approximately 2040hrs on Friday 12 July.
No other vehicles are believed to have been involved in the incident.
The man was driving a black Ford Fiesta and was travelling towards Patrington when the car left the road to the nearside and collided with a tree.
The driver suffered serious injuries and had to be cut from the wreckage before being flown to Hull Royal Infirmary by air ambulance where he has been detained.
His condition is described as stable.
