East Yorkshire: Fed Up Of Having Nothing To Do On A Friday Night? Join In On Some Free Sports Activites Every Friday Thanks To Humberside Police

Kirkella Neighbourhood Team have teamed up with Haltemprice Sports Centre and secured enough funding to pay two sports coaches from the Hull AFC ‘Tigers Sports and Education Trust’ to coach youngsters in sports including; athletics, badminton, basketball, golf, hockey, netball and table tennis.

Every Friday between 6pm and 8pm children aged between 10 and 16 years old are invited to attend Haltemprice Sports Centre, on Springfield Way, Anlaby to be given two hours of sports and keep them entertained during the busiest time the police typically receive calls regarding anti-social behaviour.

Every Friday starting from this week (2nd May), until the rest of the year, Kirkella Neighbourhood Policing Team have secured enough funding from the Tribune Trust, and Willerby and Anlably’s Parish Council to pay for two expert coaches to teach our youngsters all about sport and keeping fit and well.

The reason Kirkella Neighbourhood Team have put so much effort into securing this funding and creating ‘Twilight Sports’ is to give our youngest generation a chance to keep busy, during the hours the police are most likely to get called about ASB and nuisance.

During each session a Kirkella Police Officer or PCSO will be present, either joining in with the sporting activity or talking to them, in order to break down any potential barriers they may have about the police.

If you fancy trying out some of the sporting activities which are on show, please contact the Kirkella Policing Team on 101 to register your interest.

Remember the first session starts this Friday, so be quick to put your name down.

Kirkella Neighbourhood Policing Team would sincerely like to thank Morrisons Supermarket in Anlaby and Sainsburys Local in Willerby, who have kindly agreed to provide the participants with drinks, snacks and prizes throughout the 48 weeks of activities.

Haltemprice for agreeing to house Twilight Sports in their leisure centre and Tigers Sports and Education Trust for offering two coaches throughout the year at a reduced fee.

Without Willerby and Anlaby Parish Council and the Tribune Trust, this could not have happened, so thank you for your kind donations to help pay for the sessions.

The children who take part, will be extremely grateful.
