Lee MCDONALD from Goole has been given an extra 40 months in prison after coming clean about committing two newsagent robberies in the town.

Lee was already in prison for an unconnected offence, when he wrote to the Detective dealing with his case and asked for her to come and see him in prison.

The Detective Constable visited him in prison and he admitted he had in-fact committed the two robberies, despite previously denying his involvement in earlier interviews.

The robberies had both taken place in January in Goole and involved him threatening staff with a hammer to gain access to the newsagents tills.

A file was passed to the Crown Prosecution Service who authorised for him to be charged with the both robberies and a breach of his ASBO.

He appeared at Hull Crown Court earlier this month, where he was sentenced to 40 months imprisonment.
